Glenarm Castle was built by the Stewart (later Stewart de Glenarm) family in the late 16th century and later held by the MacDonnell clan in the early 17th century. It is remembered as a significant stronghold in the Nine Years' War and for its strategic role in the resistance against English forces in Ulster.
