Glamis Castle was originally built by the Keith family in the 14th century and later held by the Douglas and then the Graham families, becoming the seat of the Earls of Strathmore. It is historically important as the childhood home of Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother and for its association with Scottish nobility and literature, including Shakespeare's *Macbeth*.
