What is recorded here
George's Cove consists mainly of Upper Devonian slate and sandstone, formed around 360 million years ago through the compression of sedimentary layers in an ancient marine environment. The area is notable for its well-exposed coastal cliffs, which provide a clear section through the transition from the overlying Carboniferous limestone to the underlying Devonian rocks, making it of interest for regional geological studies.
