George Johnston Allman

George Johnston Allman was born in County Dublin on 28 September 1824, the son of a botanist who likely pointed young George toward pattern and proof before formal schooling began. He spent forty years teaching mathematics at Queen's University of Ireland and wrote Greek Geometry from Thales to Euclid, a book that carried ancient construction into modern classrooms. His life moved from a Dublin birthplace to a university chair and back again, ending at Finglass in 1904 after decades of shaping how Irish students met mathematical history.
