George Fletcher Moore

Moore left Ireland in 1830 with a legal degree and no guarantee of power, yet he claimed unseen Avon Valley land on the word of an explorer and later reshaped that grant after walking the river itself. He became a Commissioner, grew one of the colony's largest sheep flocks, and published Aboriginal language before most settlers could be bothered to listen. The man who arrived empty-handed built authority through patience, observation and the willingness to learn what others ignored.
