Garrycloyne Church (in Ruins)

Near E end of graveyard (9545), on ground sloping down to E; ruin of C of I parish church of Garrycloyne. Rectangular nave (13.9m E-W; 7.6m N-S) with apse at E end (rectangular in plan outside: 6.4m N-S; 3.6m E-W; semielliptical inside). Walls stand to full height, except upper part of W gable, but in poor structural condition. Central door in W gable; two windows each in N and S walls and central E window in apse; all light surrounds missing. Order to change location of parish church made in 1766 (Brady 1863, Vol. 2, 211); parish church moves to Blarney village in 1777 (Duggan 1989, 52) and older church probably abandoned since then; headstone dated 1824 positioned directly outside door of church. Style of remains suggests late 17th/early 18th-century date for construction. Glebe House built in 1804 immediately ESE of graveyard (ibid.); 2-storey over basement, rectangular in plan; rear front (SE) of 4 bays; entrance front (SW) of 2 bays.
