What is recorded here

Overlooking the entrance to Portmagee Channel at the SW end of Valencia Island, this site, marked ‘Gallauns’ on the second edition of the OS maps, comprises two uprights and one recumbent slab. The taller of the two erect stones stands 1.7m high and measures .98m x .15m at base; NNW-SSE. It inclines slightly to W. Set 10.5m to NW, the second standing stone is 1.5m high and measures 1.35m x .2m at base, where a number of packing stones are visible; E-W. Located 8.2m to W is a large slab set on edge, 2.6m x 1.3m, forming the rear of what appears to have been an animal shelter. The above description is derived from A. O'Sullivan and J.
