What is recorded here

Gallaun is a 3.43 metre stone standing inside Cromwell's Fort on the Iveragh Peninsula, County Kerry. The upright predates the fort by millennia, yet the later enclosure swallowed it without hesitation. A leaning slab now braces its base, probably added after Chatterton shook it loose in 1839. The site becomes a collision of ages: old stone, new fort, and human hands keeping both visible.

Within enclosure (CO147-029001-), on W side. Rectangular stone aligned NW-SE (H 0.98m; 0.92m x 0.13m). The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
