What is recorded here

Gallaun stands inside Cromwell's Fort on the Iveragh Peninsula, yet the stone is far older than the fort that surrounds it. That much is visible. What is missing is the reason the fort accepted the stone instead of removing it. A tall upright already marked the ground, and later people may have built around it because it was already sacred, already familiar, already impossible to ignore. The fort did not create the meaning of Gallaun. It inherited it.
