Gállan is a rectangular standing stone in West Cork bog, aligned northeast to southwest and overlooking the Durrus River. It rises 1.3 metres from the wet earth, broad enough to mark a boundary, narrow enough to suggest a doorway. People may have set it where land, water and memory met, then forgotten the name it once carried.
