What is recorded here

Gallán is a standing stone in County Cork, Ireland. It rises nearly two metres from pasture on an NNE-facing slope, its irregular body tilted along a NNE-SSW axis. The stone predates the 1842 Ordnance Survey map, suggesting people passed it long before surveyors drew the land. It may have marked a boundary, a memory or a warning, though no written account preserves that purpose.
