What is recorded here

No modern lens can force that hidden chamber into view, though human hands shaped it beneath the ringfort long before surveyors forgot its name. It vanished from ordinary sight, yet the 1940 map still claimed the place where deception withdrew.
In SW quadrant of ringfort (8403). No visible surface trace; depicted as 'site of' on 1940 OS 6-inch map. Second possible Man-made underground passage (9059) marked in N half of ringfort. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 3: Mid Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 14 January 2009
