Grave Yd stands at a crossroads in County Cork, holding stones from 1783 and the erased memory of a church destroyed in 1883. Two bullaun stones wait outside the western gate, marking an older layer of human attention beneath the parish boundary. The graveyard still receives the dead, proving that forgetting is a choice rather than a law.
At crossroads, on S side of road; subrectangular graveyard (c. 50m SW-NE; c. 60m NW-SE) enclosed by stone wall. In occasional use; recent extension on W side. Inscribed headstones date from late 18th century; earliest stone noted dated 1783. Site of ancient parish church of Clondrohid; new C of Ichurch built about the year 1756 (Brady 1863, vol. 2, 122-3); this was, according to Lewis (1837, vol. 1, 355), 'a large plain edifice, rebuilt in 1829'. This church shown at N end of graveyard on 1842 OS 6-inch map; it was 'taken down' in 1883 when parish united with Macroom (Cole 1903, 181). There is now no visible surface trace of church. Immediately outside gate to W are two bullaun stones (CO070-039001-; CO070-120----).
