What is recorded here

Gallan is a vanished standing stone in West Cork, recorded only in a published inventory and absent from the pasture slope where it once stood. The land may have swallowed it, people may have removed it, or the entry may have pointed to the wrong place. What is certain is that Gallan escaped the common fate of being forgotten, because someone wrote its name down before the grass closed over the gap.
