What is recorded here

Gallan stands in Mid Cork, a single stone marked on maps in 1937 but absent before and after, suggesting human hands moved or buried it rather than nature forgetting. The pasture slope faces south-east, catching late light on stone that may have guided herds, marked a boundary, or waited for a ceremony no longer remembered. Its disappearance is not loss but completion: the place stopped performing for people who no longer knew the language of stones.

Not shown on 1842 and 1904 OS 6-inch maps. Marked on 1937 OS 6-inch map as single standing stone. In pasture, on SSE-facing slope. Removed; no visible surface trace.
