What is recorded here

Gallan was a four-foot grey standing stone in Mid Cork, recorded by Condon in 1916 but already absent from the 1842 and 1904 maps. Its disappearance suggests human hands, not time, erased it. The stone may have marked a boundary, a burial, or a promise someone later wished forgotten. What was removed is no longer visible, but the act of removal still stands in the gap.

Not shown on 1842 or 1904 OS 6-inch maps. Removed. Condon (1916, 73) recorded stone (H 4ft; 15ins x 13ins) 'of a greyish colour'.
