What is recorded here

Gallán was a single standing stone on a west-facing Cork pasture slope, visible on maps only after 1938 and already gone before the inventory writers arrived. It may have marked a boundary, a burial, a meeting place or nothing at all, but its disappearance leaves behind a small sharp absence: a stone remembered only through the shape of its loss.

Likely dating to the late prehistoric or early historic period, the stone may have had ceremonial or territorial significance. Its removal and lack of visible trace make its original use or folklore difficult to determine.
