What is recorded here

Gallán is a 1.2m standing stone in Mid Cork bogland, absent from both the 1842 and 1903 survey maps. It stands fifty metres from another stone, its narrow rectangular body aligned east to west like a needle dropped into black water. The surveys missed it twice, perhaps because bogland swallows what it does not wish to show.

Not shown on 1842 and 1903 OS 6-inch maps. In bogland c. 50m to NW of standing stone (CO061-059002-). Stone (H 1.2m; 0.84m x 0.1m) is subrectangular in plan, long axis E-W.
