What is recorded here

Gallán is a subrectangular standing stone in County Cork, Ireland, rising 1.27m with a long axis pointing NW-SE. It sits in tillage about 100m south of another marked stone, hidden from 1842 and 1904 maps yet still visible in the published archaeological inventory. The stone may have marked a boundary, a burial, or a seasonal gathering place, but its exact purpose remains unknown. What is clear is that it resisted erasure, surviving cartography and time to hold its shape in the earth.
