What is recorded here

Gallan is a standing stone in County Cork, Ireland. It stands twelve metres tall on a south-facing slope, its irregular frame aligned north to south. A curved notch cuts the bottom half of both edges, while a similar mark appears near the top. The stone may have measured distance, marked a boundary or guided people through darkness. Its purpose has faded, but its shape remains clear enough to invite imagination.

In pasture on S-facing slope. Irregular stone aligned N-S (H 1.4m; 0.7m x 0.1m). Curved notch has been picked on bottom half of N and S edge of stone. Similar notch on top.
