Not shown on 1842 and 1904 OS 6-inch maps. Shown on SW side of ringfort (CO050-054001-) on 1939 OS 6-inch map. Removed; no visible surface trace. According to Hartnett (PJH) 'there is a "Gallaun" to W, on line of inner rampart 42ins x 51ins x 16ins'. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Likely dating to the early medieval period, the name "Gallán" may refer to a Christian saint or holy well associated with the ringfort. Its removal and lack of visible remains suggest it may have been a small cult site or boundary marker with local religious or territorial significance.
