Gallain (Site of) is a vanished standing stone in County Cork, Ireland, where three stones appeared on an 1842 map and two remained on a 1900 map before disappearing entirely. The loss suggests human action, perhaps stone-taking for walls or roadwork, rather than natural decay. What remains is a gap marked only by name and memory, a quiet warning that even ancient things can be erased when people stop seeing them as worthy of protection.
