What is recorded here

The Orkney record names a wreck Fulmar and calls it a cruiser, but gives no period or secure vessel history. No obvious named match was strong enough to supply a date, voyage, loss story or people.

The vessel and voyage

Fulmar is the recorded name and cruiser the recorded type. Cruiser may mean a leisure or motor vessel and does not automatically mean a naval cruiser. Without a date, builder, dimensions, owner or registration, similarly named ships elsewhere cannot safely be joined to this point.

How it was lost

No exact date or cause of loss was found. The available record does not establish grounding, weather, collision, fire, enemy action or deliberate disposal.

Deaths and survival

There is no checked crew list, death count or rescue account for this Fulmar. A story belonging to another vessel of the same name would be worse than leaving this honestly unknown.

What remains

A point is recorded in Orkney waters, but the sources checked do not describe the wreck's size, depth, shape or condition. Its identity may have come from an older report rather than a uniquely marked object recovered from the site; the public record does not settle that question.

Why it mattered

For now Fulmar matters as a local wreck lead, not as a proven major event. Keeping the thin evidence visible allows later harbour, lifeboat, newspaper or diving records to be matched without first having to undo an invented story.
