Fulacht fia

What is recorded here

In NE quadrant of gently undulating, improved yet poorly drained pasture. Reported to the Archaeological Survey of Ireland as the low remains of an enclosure. A large, extant fulacht fia (dims. 35m ENE-WSW; max. 38m NNW-SSE) located upon a natural ridge of higher ground (long-axis E-W). Grass covered horseshoe-shaped mound of burnt material; open (Wth 10m) to SE. Relatively recent drainage activity along field boundaries to N and E. No potential feature evident upon historic mapping and barely visible upon modern aerial images (OSi 2010, Bing 2015).
