Fulacht fia in Newtown (coolock By., Finglas Ed)

Excavations in advance of the N2 Finglas-Ashbourne Road scheme in 2004 revealed remains of a spread of burnt mound material (L 10m, Wth 3.5m, D 0.15m). This was located adjacent to a natural waterlogged peat basin which contained a large number of split round-wood logs. Two pits and a sub-circular trough containing heat shattered stones and charcoal -rich deposits produced no archaeological finds (NRA) Compiled by: Geraldine Stout Date of upload: 26 August 2011
