Heat-shattered stones and charcoal-rich soil mark a fulacht fia in Lisnagar Demesne, County Cork. Excavation in 2003 revealed four linear pits, two shallow oval pits and a rectangular trough holding the same fire-worn remains. Slag lay beneath stones in the trough, hinting that heat and craft shared one place. A second fulacht fia sits about fifty metres to the south-west across a stream, as if the land kept two kitchens for different days.

Two spreads of heat-shattered stones and charcoal-enriched soil were uncovered during testing in advance of the construction of the N8 Rathcormac-Fermoy Bypass. Subsequent excavation in 2003 revealed four linear pits, two shallow small oval pits and a rectangular trough (2.3m x 1.5m; max. D 0.35m) all of which contained heat-shattered stones and charcoal-enriched soil in their fills. Slag was recovered from beneath the stones within the trough cut though there was no further obvious evidence of ironworking. Another fulacht fia (CO044-081----) lies c. 50m to the SSW on the opposite side of a stream.
