What is recorded here

Kilnamona holds a small burnt mound beside a ringfort, though the two may never have shared a purpose. The mound stretches seven and a half metres, shallow enough to walk across yet dense with heat given up long ago. Someone threw stone into water there, broke the stone with sudden boiling, and carried heavy jars elsewhere. The ringfort watched or waited, while the mound kept its own smaller fever.
Just inside the inner edge of the enclosing bank of a ringfort (LI037-030---). A mound (7.4m N-S; 9.6m E-W; H 0.35m) of burnt material. The relationship between two monuments is probably coincidental. Compiled by: Denis Power Date of upload: 26 August 2011
