Killowney Beg holds a horseshoe of burnt stone facing southeast, waiting beside a church and graveyard for people who understand heat and water. The mound survived road works and dumped soil, preserving the shape of repeated fire even though no trough remains visible. It is not a display or a dead ruin; it is a kitchen, a workshop, a ritual edge where humans made hot water do what muscle cannot.

In poorly drained grassland, 110m south of a church (OF022-012001-) and graveyard (OF022-012004-), with levelled fulacht fia (OF022-012006-) c. 50m to W. A well preserved horseshoe-shaped mound (7.1m NW-SE; 9.3m NE-SE; H 0.3m) of burnt material, with the opening (2m NE-SW; 2.7m NW-SE) facing SE. A rescue excavation was carried out on the site of this fulacht fiadh in 2013 by David Sweetman under license No. 13E0119, when the field where the site was located was used as a landfill site for dumping of soil associated with groundworks on the adjacent public road carried out by Offaly Co. Co. The mound of burnt stone was relocated underneath the dumped soil. The site was recorded and photographed by the excavator and was then covered over with protective material but was not fully excavated.
