Frenchfurze still carries the ghost of a ruined fulacht fia, though no exact coordinates survive for the lost basin. Casey recorded the destruction in 1983, preserving the fact that people once heated water, cooked food or cleansed the body beside that field. The earth swallowed the stones and removed the marker, yet the townland name keeps the event alive. Forgetting the exact spot does not erase the heat, the steam or the hands that built the ring.
