Cnocán Na Mbairneach was a fulacht fia, a cooking place where hot stones and water turned raw meat into sustenance. The road widened in 1963 and took the pit with it. No stone or scar remains to mark the loss. What is gone cannot be photographed, only remembered through the name and the shape of what the name describes.

Locally known as cooking place. Destroyed during road widening in 1963. No visible surface trace. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
