Fulacht fia in Caherlusky

In level pasture. In 1957 a rectangular stone-lined trough, measuring 5ft 6ins x 3ft 6ins [1.68m x 1.7m] and 2ft 6ins [0.76m] deep, was discovered during the course of land reclamation (NMI file). It consisted of one vertical slab on each side, all wedged together at each corner with smaller stones and having a single slab on the floor. Its long axis was NW-SE. The trough was filled with black earth and fragments of burnt stones. According to local information, the trough was backfilled and remains intact and the burnt stones were spread on the surface in the surrounding area.
