What is recorded here

In pasture, at the base of a W-facing slope bordering a broad flat expanse of bogland and c. 120m E of a river. A low oval mound of heat-shattered stones and dark soil (14.5m N-S; c. 10.7m E-W; H 0.6m) which merges with gently rising ground to E. There is a circular depression (diam. 3m; D 0.25m) in the NW quadrant and a less clearly defined depression (3m WNW-ESE; 2.4m NNE-SSW) at W; both may be the result of recent disturbance. Two burnt spreads (SL038-141----; SL038-142---- ) lie c. 140m and c. 260m to N respectively. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005). Date of upload: 18 January 2008
