Frederick Schomberg, 1st Duke of Schomberg died at the River Boyne in County Meath, Ireland. He was a military commander in the Williamite War in Ireland and part of King William of Orange's army. The duke camped near the Holywood hills area of Craigantlet, where King William himself stayed in a house now called Schomberg Cottage.
