Frances Emilia Crofton

Frances Emilia Crofton was born in Waterford, Ireland in 1822, the same year the Great Famine began starving half the island. She married a naval surgeon, painted landscapes for charity, and died in Dunmore in 1910, eighty-eight years old. The famine swallowed her childhood; she outlived it by seven decades.
