Fawnmore Fort vanished under sand-quarrying machines after appearing on three official maps, denying modern hands the chance to touch its ancient edges. It stood elevated above grazing land, likely watching herds and humans move through undulating Donegal fields. The fort may have belonged to people long forgotten or fairies who never needed mapping, but human greed erased it before witness. What remains is absence itself, a hollow where marble and memory should have met.

The 'Fort' which was marked on the three editions of the OS 6-inch maps has been removed in the course of sand-quarrying. It stood on an elevated position in undulating land suitable for grazing.
