Font in Cross (inchiquin By.) — Report the wrong picture

Kilkeedy church in County Clare once held a spiral-fluted holy water font in its middle, though it may have stood elsewhere before that placement. Westropp saw the twisting ridges around the year 1900, but the font vanished after his visit, leaving behind only the memory of water catching light inside a small stone chamber.

This record is for the original location of a ‘holy water font’ that was noted in the middle of Kilkeedy church (CL011-022003-) in the OS Letters (Comber 1997, 38). It was regarded as not being in its original position. Westropp (1900-1902, 138-9) observed that this font had spiral fluting. It went missing sometime after his visit (Swinfen 1992, 45).
