Erected in 1978, the 508 War Memorial commemorates the 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment, U.S. Army, who trained at Wollaton Park in Nottingham before their D-Day and Operation Market Garden campaigns in 1944. The memorial honors their service and connection to the local area during World War II.
