Jubilee Avenue (formally West Drive) and its fifty new trees was inaugurated by The Chancellor Lord Dearing DB LLD Hon FEng, on 20 August 1998. t0 mark the 50th Anniversary of the granting of the Royal Charter to the University of Nottingham

Jubilee Avenue, originally named West Drive, was renamed and officially opened on 20 August 1998 by Chancellor Lord Dearing to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the University of Birmingham receiving its Royal Charter. The avenue features fifty newly planted trees and symbolises the university's historical and academic significance.
