What is recorded here

At the head of a slight W-E valley on the NE-facing slope of Rathcroghan ridge, and part of the unified field system at Rathcroghan. An area of c. 8 ha (c. 19 acres) contains field banks (Wth c. 2m; H 0.2-0.6m) forming roughly rectangular fields (dims c. 30m x. c. 60m) E of rath (RO022-056030-). The remains of a sweathouse (RO026-056051-) is built into one of the banks and is visible as an oval mound (dims 5.6m x 4.4m; H 0.8m) with a rectangular hollow (dims 2m x 1.4m). The fields in Grallagh (RO022-056010-) are c. 200m to the N, and the fields (RO022-056025-) associated with Caran Fort are c. 500m to the W. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 24 August 2010
