Situated in a low-lying undulating landscape. A series of rectangular fields (dims. up to c. 60m by c. 40m) defined by banks, scarps and ditches is attached to motte and bailey (ME022-010----) on the N side and covers about 18 acres (c. 7 ha). There are smaller fields closer to the motte, and within the fields are the mounds (ME022-008----; ME022-009----) and the moated site (ME022-006----).
