Field system in Kiltoome

Field system

What is recorded here

Situated on a fairly level landscape. The church (ME036-011----) of Kiltoome is within a fairly regular field system covering about 7 ha (c. 18 acres) extending S. The fields are defined by silted ditches and are fairly rectangular (dims c. 60m x c. 40m). They appear to attach to the ecclesiastical enclosure (ME036-011004-) around the church, and are also visible on aerial photograph (GB89.M.09). The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Meath' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1987). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of revision: 5 July 2019
