Field system in Dunbell Big

Field system

What is recorded here

An aerial photograph (GB96.FW.17, 20 July 1996) shows cropmarks of three conjoined enclosures, each defined by a fosse, adjoining the southern edge of a plough-levelled enclosure (KK024-018----). Two of the enclosures are curvilinear; one is rectilinear. These enclosures probably represent a field system associated with the ringfort. See attached: KK024-122----_01 aerial photograph (GB96.FW.17, 20 July 1996) Compiled by: Dr. Gillian Barrett for the Archaeological Survey of Ireland Date of upload: 17 January 2012
