Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Dunbell Big

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Two concentric clay banks circle a hidden chamber in Dunbell Big, waiting beneath scrub and forgotten quarries. The earth still holds the shape of hands that built it, though no human name remains attached to the work.
Heavily overgrown with trees and scrub. There is a deep large quarry c. 20m to the E. Indicated on the 1st (1840) ed. OS 6-inch map and on the 1899-1902 revision as a multivallate enclosure (int. diam. c. 40m; overall diam. c. 75m) defined by two concentric banks. Another enclosure identified by Prim (1872-3, 225) is located c. 30m to the W and another bivallate enclosure (KK024-018----) is located c. 140m to the S.
