Field boundary in Mangerton

In rough hill pasture, on the S-facing slope of Mangerton Mountain, overlooking the valley of the Owbeg River. A N-S section of a drystone wall (T c. 0.5m; H 0.35m) emerges from the bog and extends to the S for a distance of c. 190m before disappearing into the bog. At c. 100m from the N end of this stretch, an E-W wall branches off to the E and continues for c. 120m until it meets a stream. In general, the walls are in a collapsed condition with loose stones scattered along both flanks. Some upright stones, set at right angles to line of wall, were noted. There is a hut site (KE084-040005-) c. 22m to the S. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Kerry.
