What is recorded here

In rough pasture, on bog, on a S-facing hillslope overlooking the valley of the Coomhola Mountain. A network of relict stone field boundaries (T 0.55m; H 0.4m) occurs intermittently in a roughly rectangular area (c. 140m E-W; c. 90m N-S). The field boundaries protrude above the surface of the bog and occasionally disappear under the surface of deeper bog. The walls are generally curvilinear and many of the stone slabs are set at right angles to the line of the walls. An enclosure (CO091-023002-) is c. 60m to the SW. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 5' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2009). Date of upload: 22 December 2009
