Field boundary in Bawnard

In rough hill pasture, in a peaty hollow, on a SW-facing slope. The remains of curvilinear, relict, stone field boundaries (T 0.6m; H 0.1-0.4m) protrude above the surface of the bog in a roughly rectangular area (c. 120m NE-SW x c. 30m NW-SE). Many stones are set at right angles to the line of the walls, which occasionally disappear under the deeper bog. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
