Fanny Susan Copeland

Fanny Susan Copeland was born in Birr Castle in 1872, the daughter of astronomer Ralph Copeland, and later carried that restless, observant blood into a life of translation, mountaineering and teaching across Europe. She spoke many languages, worked beside diplomats during the war years, and spent decades shaping English minds in Ljubljana. A girl from an Irish castle became a bridge between cultures, proving that brilliance often travels further when it refuses to sit still.
