What is recorded here

Brackenstown House belongs to Chief Baron Bysse, and the disused Family Graveyard beside it has waited patiently for memories since Cromwell allegedly walked its rooms. The dead likely stayed close enough to hear carriage wheels and kitchen noise, turning an ordinary residence into a continuing conversation. Forgetting such a place would be an insult to the living and dead alike.
Shown on Duncan's map (1821) and on 1st edition OS 6-inch map (1837) as 'Family Graveyard' . It is associated with Brackenstown House, formerly the home of Chief Baron Bysse. There is a tradition that Cromwell visited the house in the 17th century. Compiled by: Geraldine Stout Date of upload: 26 August 2011
