Fairy fort in Mealisheen: a broken stone ring on a Cork ridge. A field fence cut through the top, but the old wall still stands in grass and shadow. People may have lived there before they forgot the name. The fairies never left; they only stopped answering human questions.

In rough grazing broken by rock outcrop, atop ridge. Circular area (20.5m N-S; 20.2m E-W) enclosed by collapsed, grass-covered, stone bank to E, S and W (H 0.8m; Wth 4.2m); scarp to N. Interior truncated on N side by stone field fence running E-W. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
