Knockduff fairy fort is a well-preserved stone ringfort in County Carlow, not a fantasy trap. Its twenty-nine metre circle still stands two metres high, with a western gap that may have been the entrance. People lived, worked and likely argued inside that small stone world before the meaning faded. The chamber at the west is disturbed now, but the wall remains clear enough to imagine the shape of daily life.

The following description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Carlow' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1993). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 17 July 2007 Approximately circular area (diam. c. 29m) enclosed by well-preserved drystone wall (H 2m; Wth 2.2-3.2m). Gap at W (Wth c. 1.8m), possibly original entrance. Traces of berm on inner face at NW, N and NE. Wall chamber at W, very disturbed.
